Are you running SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 2? If
not, this will be the problem.

Sr. Software Consultant|||I tried to install SP2 but setup said there were no components to upgrade.
Can you help?

I had the same problem a little while back. You want to backup your
databases and uninstall the original Express Edition and install the
SP2 version.
Regards,
Enrique Martinez
Sr. Software Consultant|||I see.
Do I need to uninstall everything (Visual Studio 2005 part as well) ?
Which download from MS site do I use to have SQL 2005, Reporting Services,
and Business Intelligence for report creation installed?

If you have just the Express Editions, you just need to uninstall SQL
Server Express Edition and the Express Edition Toolkit (not VB.NET
Express or C#.NET Express, etc). The latest Express Edition downloads
are located here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/download/
You will want to download and install: MS SQL Server Express Edition w/
Advanced Services (SP2 Edition) and MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
Toolkit (SP2 Edition).
Both of the SP2 Editions are here at this link. Hope this helps.

Are you running different versions of either SQL Server or Visual
Studio on the same box?|||I am not really sure. I am not installing any VS components. Whatever SQL
installs that is what I have.
In the message about "Compatibility ..." problem it says that it is a known
issue and offers me to check MS site for the solution. When I select that it
takes me to VS 2005 download site with different SP1s. There is one for
Express Edition and another for Vista. This one is not specific to a SQL
2005 version. At least how I understand it. Which one do I need to install
assuming that it is the fix?
Thanks
